AI music in Italy didn’t arrive as a single movement. It grew in bedrooms and home studios, in Discord servers and group chats, in classrooms, on small stages and in late-night experiments nobody planned. The result is a scene that is lively, scattered and often invisible from the outside. The Italian AI Music Awards was born to change that last part.

Every corner, literally

AI music in Italy doesn’t live only in Milan or Rome. An exciting project is just as likely to come from a small town, an island or a mountain valley, with lyrics in Italian, English or a local dialect. That’s why every artist on the site has a pin on our map of Italy: to show at a glance how far this music already reaches, and to give a stage to places that rarely appear on the music map.

A scene, not a niche

When people talk about AI music, they often picture one kind of creator: someone typing a prompt and pressing generate. What we see every day is much richer. There are songwriters who use AI only to sketch a demo, producers who rebuild every stem by hand, bands that let an algorithm suggest a chord progression, and visual artists who found their way into music through these tools. All of them belong here.

Who we want to bring together

  • Artists of every genre and at every level of AI use, from techno to jazz, from pop to metal
  • Producers, composers and sound designers working behind the scenes
  • Communities and collectives that teach, share and support each other
  • Festivals, events and radio shows bringing this music to live audiences
  • Media and creators covering the scene
  • Educators, researchers and developers building the tools and the knowledge that goes with them

Open by design

For us, inclusion isn't a slogan: it's written into how the Awards works. The Open Call is free and open to every Italian artist creating with AI, in Italy or abroad, and to anyone who lives in Italy. Tracks can be in any language and any genre, any AI tool is allowed, and the rights always stay with the artist.

The Human × AI indicator follows the same idea. Each artist declares who did what across six roles, from lyrics to mix and master. There’s no right answer and no ranking of purity: a track made mostly by hand and one built mostly with AI sit side by side, and listeners can see exactly how each one was made.

We’re not here to decide what AI music should be. We’re here to show everything it already is.

THE IAIMA TEAM

Building it together

No single project can map a whole scene on its own. That’s why we work with media partners, share stories from other platforms in our From the Web section, and keep the door open to collaborations. If you run a community, a festival, a podcast, a label or a school, and you care about AI music in Italy, we’d love to hear from you.
